More and more snaps are being created monthly! For those that may not know, Snaps are a new way for developers to package their apps, bringing with it many advantages over the more traditional package formats such as .deb, .rpm, and others. Snaps are secure, isolated and allow apps to be rolled back should an issue occur. Snaps really are the future of Linux application packaging.
We’ve selected 10 of our favourites Desktop snaps that were added to the store in August that include everything from a Slack-like server to a Maths problem generator. Check out the list below!
- Rocket.Chat – Slack-like server that you can build yourself
- Quassel: quassel-kalikiana – IRC client
- Pencilsheep – Pro image editor
- Pelican: pelican-foli – Static site generator supporting markdown
- MathJump – Maths problem generator
- Conn-check – Utility for checking connectivity to external services
- Arduino: arduino-mhall119 – IDE for arduino board development
- Late summer in Poland – Wallpapers from various locations in Poland
- Kicad: kicad-snap.eldar – Suite of programmes for the creation of printed circuit boards
